Yay! DeeDee's here! My best buddy is down from Oregon visiting! We're going out to lunch RIGHT NOW!! We're going to go play at the horsey winery and go see "The Passion" tomorrow!! Wheee!!!
Well, my Q-bits items arrived - all nineteen pieces of them! Luckily only 14 of them have to be assembled (I guess that's lucky, right?), and mom and I can spend the weekend doing just that! I'm very excited to get my stuff off the floor and out of boxes, and get it all organized and looking pretty!
Introducing a(nother) new blog: Ex Libris, my book blog. Go find out what the heck I'm reading right now!
I LOVE Tammy Bruce! She is my HERO!! In this article, Tammy writes almost word for word what I've often thought in my own head. Particularly this passage:
"Frankly, I believe the cultural trouble and moral vapidity in our society today - the moral relativism I write about in DRW - has sprung from the 'liberation' movements of the 60s and 70s. It was then that the Left began to attack the traditional in the name of liberation and equality."
And this:
"Today's struggle with single-parent families, drug addiction, the epidemic of sexually transmitted diseases among the young, suicide rates, the devaluing of the family, and even the extraordinarily high divorce rate, I contend, can be traced back to the time which lionized the destruction of the traditional and the elevation of moral relativism."
Yes, yes, and yes! Thank you, Tammy! Thank you!
In other news, we're getting completely slammed! We've got wind gusts up to 50 mph, and tons and tons of rain!
I had another great weekend wherein I accomplished a lot: I got my taxes done, took care of some CA Blonde stuff, purged a ton of books from the den, picked up some supplies from Beverly's for a couple crafts projects I've been wanting to do, and cleaned off and organized my desk!
Wow, how observant am I? I didn't even realize this was a leap year! Anyway, there's a new photo project for Leap Day that I'll be participating in, so look forward to that.
Found on the sidewalk on campus. How funny is this??

Mom and I had an awesome extended weekend! I took Thursday and Friday off last week, and we cleaned out our garage and our bedrooms (buh bye craploads of jewelry and shoes and old posters, and all the other worthless junk we've accumulated! buh bye!), did some yard work (trimmed the trees and a couple bushes, and cleaned out the gutter), and even took a day off to venture downtown for Valentine's Day!
Today I'm just relaxing, taking pictures of some items I'll be selling (but still want to keep the memories of), working on my portion of The Journal Project, which I recieved last week, and ordering yet another really cool piece of furniture! This one will go in the den, and will make doing stamping and crafts projects so much easier and much more fun! Tomorrow, back to work! Cheers!
Today was beautiful! The sun was warm, the sky was blue, and there were even some flowers out!

Mom and I took a break from our Cleaning Frenzy and walked up to the wine and chocolate tasting The Downtown Association was having at the various little shops downtown. We didn't do the wine tasting, but the chocolates were free, so we sampled a few as we walked around. We went through several really cute little shops we don't usually get to - wondering the whole time how they manage to survive - finally stopping at Frankie's Deli for a delicious glass of EOS Chardonnay, before heading home.

It felt good to be outside getting some exercise and fresh air, after spending all of Thursday cooped up in the garage going through stuff, and all yesterday going through my room. Still, it was worth it - our garage looks fantastic, and my room is all clean and organized, and ready for the new furniture I ordered!!! Tomorrow we'll get our yard work done, so I'll have Monday to rest, relax, and get ready for the week ahead! Cheers!
Yay! The two-drawer Q-bits I'd ordered from Target arrived today! Mom had already put it together by the time I got home, and after looking it over, I've decided that the Q-bits have won the contest to be My New Bedroom Furniture!!

The drawer unit is actually a really solid, sturdy piece of furniture, unlike the IKEA bedside table. I'm really very excited to get this set now, and get my bedroom completely organized and decorated!
So, late Friday evening a truck pulled up in our driveway, and, under cover of darkness, a package was haphazardly dumped on our front porch. Mom and I were watching TV and heard the running engine, and slamming of the car door, and thought it was just our neighbours coming or going. Then, we heard the thud of something bumping against the house and got up to investigate, but by the time we got to the door, the mystery package deliverer was gone. Turns out the package was my Vestby beside table from IKEA! Apparently the UPS guy had delivered it to the wrong house and the people were delivering it to the right house (that happens a lot; we get our neighbour's mail, they get ours, etc.), because, really, UPS guys don't make deliveries at 7:45 p.m. Do they?
Anyway, I was very excited about finally receiving a part of what might be my new bedroom furniture, until we started putting it together.

It's cute. It's very cute, but, the top, bottom, sides, and drawer are plastic. Corrugated plastic. Does it look good, sure. Was it inexpensive, absolutely. Will it work for me as bedroom furniture? Ahhh, no. It just doesn't look sturdy enough to me. I don't think I could even get my clock radio and telephone on the top without reinforcing it. The plastic banker's box-style drawer will not last long, and I'm pretty sure all the books and magazines I'd planned on storing in it would make it just collapse. So. Now, I'll just wait for the Q-bit I ordered from Target to arrive, put it together, and see if maybe that will work for me after all. If that doesn't work, then it's back to the bedroom shopping drawing board for me.
I started out being very happy, happy, happy, joy, joy, joy in this post: It's Friday! The sun is shining! I found my camera! Yay! Yay! Yay! But after I went back and read it over again, I deleted it. It just didn't feel right. Not today.
While I really I am happy that it's Friday at last, as well as happy (and relieved) that I found my missing digital camera last night, I can't help but feel it's not appropriate to be quite that happy today. I just keep thinking about that little girl who was abducted and murdered in Florida. I can't get it out of my head. My heart breaks for her family! Like everyone else, I hoped Carlie would be found alive, and safely returned home. Once they had the suspect in custody and it was revealed he wasn't cooperating, however, I got a bad, bad feeling: she was dead. She had to be. There would be no point in the [alleged] kidnapper cooperating if she was already dead, and he knew it. It wouldn't get him anything. If she was still alive somewhere, he would've been using that as leverage to get a lighter sentence. (And, it probably would've worked, too.) But, since he wasn't jumping at the chance to tell them what happened to Carlie, I knew. I just knew.
So, while it's a beautiful, sunny Friday afternoon, and I'm happy about that, and I found a lost item, and I'm happy about that, too, it's still a sad day. My heart goes out to Carlie's family. God bless you.
I know I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but, seriously, isn't it Friday, yet? How is it that the weeks are going by so slow, but the months are already flying by? I mean, it's February already! How is this possible?
Okay, that's enough complaining for now.
